Ex. If 6 May, 2016 is a Friday, what day it will be on 11 Aug, 2016?
Sol. Number of days from 6th may to 31st May = 25 ( 6 May is not counted )
1st June to 30th June = 30 days
1st July to 31st July = 31 days
1st Aug to 11th Aug = 11 days
Total = 97 days, which has 6 odd days.
Hence, 11th Aug is Thursday.
Ex. If 9th of a month falls on the day preceding Sunday, then on what day will the 1st of that month fall?
(1) Friday (2) Saturday (3) SUnday (4) Monday
Answer : (1)
SOl. As per the question, 9th day of the month is a Saturday (day preceding Sunday).
Days repeat after 7 days.
9th of the month minus 7 days = 2nd of the given month, is also a Saturday.
Then, 1st of the given month = Saturday minus one day, is a Friday.
Ex. On sunday, 5th December , 1993, Nirmala and Raju celebrated their anniversary . What day will it be on their anniversary in 1997?
(1) Wednesday (2) Thursday (3) Friday (4) Tuesday
Answer : (3)
Sol. In a normal year, there is a gain of 1 day. In a leap year, there is a gain of 2 days.

Sol. 31st December, 2005 was a Saturday.
Number of odd days from the year 2006 to the year 2009 = ( 1 + 2 + 1 + 1)= 5 days
31st December, 2009 was a Thursday.
Thus, 1st January, 2010 would be a Friday.
